KAFD Metro Station
Client : LEDFlex – KAFD Metro Station
Location : KAFD, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Position : Director, Photographer, Editor
KAFD Metro Station in Riyadh forms a key interchange within the city’s expanding metro network, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects as part of the King Abdullah Financial District. Commissioned by LEDFlex, Wajd Ramadan worked as Director, Photographer and Editor, documenting the station’s architectural form and integrated lighting with an emphasis on its geometry, circulation and relationship between structure and illumination. The station’s architecture is defined by a three-dimensional lattice of opposing sine-wave geometries, extending from its internal circulation spaces into a perforated exterior envelope inspired by patterns formed by desert winds. The resulting photographic series focuses on the architectural rhythm, scale and material expression of one of Riyadh’s most significant pieces of contemporary transport infrastructure. The project forms part of Wajd Ramadan’s architectural photography work in Riyadh and Saudi Arabia.
